Write a better job search
Give JobBloom enough detail to find suitable roles without making your search unnecessarily narrow.
Start with the work you want
Use a recognizable role title or field: customer support, finance, product design, or software engineering. Add an experience level when it matters. Avoid listing several unrelated careers in one search; separate searches make the matches easier to compare.
Set a realistic location scope
Choose a country for a focused search, or a region or continent when you can work across several countries. If a particular city matters, leave the selector on Anywhere and include the city in your prompt. For remote roles, state where you are eligible to work and check any restrictions in the original listing.
Include essential skills and preferences
Mention the skills that define the role, rather than every tool you have used. Include full-time, contract, internship, remote, hybrid, or on-site preferences when relevant. Use “Python or Go” if either is acceptable instead of requiring both.
Search examples to adapt
- Finance
- “Entry-level finance roles, Excel, full-time” — choose Nigeria as the search scope.
- Customer support
- “Remote customer support roles open to applicants in Nigeria, written English” — choose Nigeria.
- Software engineering
- “Senior backend engineer, Python or Go, remote” — choose Europe, then review each employer’s country restrictions.
- Marketing
- “Entry-level marketing jobs in Lagos, content and social media” — leave the scope on Anywhere to retain the city from the prompt.
Adjust when matches are limited
Try a related job title, remove a nonessential skill, or widen the geographic scope. You can choose different supported boards in search settings. If recency matters, say “posted this week”; a strict date limit can reduce the number of available matches.
Read the full listing before applying. AI summaries can miss details, and a close match score does not replace checking qualifications, salary, location, and work authorization.
